ADNEC acquires ExCeL London
18th June 2008
London will be home to one of a global "super group" of exhibition venues, following the announcement that ExCeL London has been acquired by the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Company (ADNEC).
ADNEC operates one of the world's most modern exhibitions and convention centres in the capital of the United Arab Emirates and ExCeL London is part of its strategy to develop a global network of venues to serve the international exhibitions industry. ADNEC is promising significant investment in the East London site as part of this vision.
Announcing the deal, ExCeL's Chairman, Lord King of Bridgwater, said: "The offer from ADCG represents exciting opportunities for the business. ExCeL has earned a deservedly high reputation for the excellent service we provide to organisers, exhibitors and visitors. There is now an exciting prospect for further development of this important London destination."
ExCeL London's existing exhibition commitments, including its role in the staging of the London 2012 Olympics, will not be affected by the acquisition.
